Who We Are
Perhaps the best advice we received when starting our organization was: “You have to know your why.” Everyone should have a core story that drives them. We wanted to share ours.

“But why???”
Everyone knew this was my favorite question to ask. As long as I can remember, I have always been inquisitive. Growing up, I was very observant of my surroundings; I constantly wondered why we did the things we did: “Why do we have to go to school?” “Why can’t I have the clouds for pillows?” “Why can’t my doll speak?”
This curiosity paid off at times as it helped me acquire more knowledge, but for the most part, people got fed up answering my questions (I don’t blame them at all!).
As the saying goes, “The older you get, the more your eyes open,” and indeed, I started noticing the pains, injustices, and inequities taking place around me. I couldn’t understand why some kids suffered abuse at the hands of their family members while others experienced the joys of childhood. I began to be driven by the desire to see change, to make things better in my little way, even if that meant donating my school backpack to those in need. Consequently, I was determined that whatever I would end up doing as an adult had to make an impact somehow.
My academic path in management fueled my interest in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling resources to achieve goals. These skills have been instrumental while partnering with my mother, who started a foundation that provides medical and skincare supplies to children and youth suffering from albinism. Today, my Office and Operations Manager position at the Policy Equity Group is another opportunity to continue supporting work that makes a difference. It is rewarding to be part of a dedicated team that helps shape the future of young children by giving them a strong foundation.
